Shakatak made Kiev dance

Recent years the fine gesture of Donetsk jazz festival “Do#Dj” became a bright event on the capital scene. This year wasn’t’ an exception. The Eights International festival ended in Kiev with the performance of legendary British band Shakatak after two concert days. The president and the founder of the festival Aleksandr Seryy did a simple and a genius thing as always and invited the musicians he was found of when he was a student. As in case with The Manhatten Transfer, Take 6 and Markus Miller did the right thing.

Jazz festival “Do#Dj- 2008” ended last week showed that м usic genre boarders become mere conventionality.

It seems like “Do#Dj” goes on!

Based on my understanding of the format of an already formed festival in 2008 I expected to see anyone: George Benson, Tower Of Power , Shakatak (who were only in Kiev )… Andrey Kondakov? With Brazilian project – yes, of course. But accompanied by Vladimir Volkov and Vyacheslav Gaivoronskiy? Such program decision was a surprise for me.

Jazz-social party took place in Kiev glamorous shed Alta – Expo where the central event was British jazz – funk band Shakatak. As it turned out (that is quite strange for a modern Ukrainian show – business) there are lots of admirers of light jazz variations of the band among metropolitan famous persons.
